Barbados is a stunning island. I preferred the quiet, rustic eastern side of the island to the overdeveloped west side. However, the beautiful isolation of the east is less convenient from the airport, and the roads are not well paved.
Where to Stay: We stayed at the Crane, an isolated hotel on the southeastern coast of the island, and really enjoyed it. The beach is its selling point, with clean white sand and gentle waves of crystal blue water, and each large room has a beautiful view of the ocean and a private plunge pool. Sandy Lane also came highly recommended.
Where to Eat: The Tides was my favorite restaurant of the trip, with amazing and beautifully presented food in an equally beautiful restaurant--request a table outside. Cafe Luna is an adorable, romantic restaurant on the rooftop of a boutique hotel, overlooking the ocean. Champers has outdoor seating right on top of the water, dock-style, and wonderful food. The Cliff was another recommended restaurant that we didn't get a chance to go to, but I have heard it is among the best in Barbados.
